Deborah S. Smolover is a Managing Partner of the venture philanthropy firm New Profit, and the Executive Director of America Forward, a national nonpartisan policy initiative. Deborah also leads the America Forward Coalition, a network of 100 social innovation organizations that advocate for public policies that advance equity, foster innovation, and reward results in education, workforce development, poverty alleviation, and criminal justice reform. Deborah served as Associate Deputy Attorney General at the U.S. Department of Justice, and Counsel to Deputy Attorney General Eric Holder. She has served in leadership roles and on the boards of numerous organizations, including: Turnaround for Children, the Yale University Child Study Center/National Center for Children Exposed to Violence, the I Am Your Child Foundation, the We Are Family Foundation, Third Sector Capital Partners, and the AppleTree Institute for Education Innovation. Deborah has taught at law schools throughout the DC area. She is an honors graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Law School.
