Data shows voter turnout for young Americans is increasing nationwide. According to CIRCLE, 27% of youth – ages 18-29 – cast a ballot in 2022, making it the midterm election with the second-highest youth voter turnout in almost three decades.

CIRCLE research has highlighted the value of youth poll worker programs and shown that young people who get involved in hands-on civic participation are more likely to be lifelong voters.

CIRCLE at Tufts University estimated that more than a quarter of people aged 18 to 29 — the second highest turnout from young voters in nearly three decades — cast a ballot in the 2022 midterm elections.

A recent survey from the Center for Information and Research on Civic Learning and Engagement showed that only 11 percent of people under 30 listed immigration as one of their “top 3 concerns.”

Last year’s midterm elections had the second-highest youth voter turnout in 30 years, according to the Center for Information and Research on Civic Learning and Engagement at Tufts University.
